While in Death Valley Last week I saw that the evidence of long-gone human habitation is still evident in the remains of hulking rusty machinery spangled over the valley. These artifacts of men and women who couldn’t make it in areas with names like Badwater, Hole In The Wall, Funeral Mountains, Deadman Pass and Devil’s Cornfield. They fled, leaving behind their machinery to merge with the landscape.
I became fascinated by the rusty textures, colors and patterns of these abandoned objects – they have an interesting beauty of their own and inspired the color palettes below. To see more of my color palette work please visit my website.
